The Governance and Nominations Committee is a Standing Committee of the University Council.

The Governance and Nominations Committee is responsible for reviewing and advising the Council on the University's governance arrangements, ensuring the University pursues good practice and complies with external governance requirements. The Committee is also responsible for recommending to Council the appointment of lay officers and lay members to Council.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Reviewing and advising on corporate governance structures and Council business;
  • Appointment, re-appointment, and development of Council members and Lay Officers;
  • Recommending changes to Council Committees and governance documents;
  • Monitoring succession planning, diversity, and compliance with Codes of Conduct;
  • Overseeing governance of subsidiary companies and statutory obligations relating to the Students' Union;
  • Supporting periodic reviews of Council and Committee effectiveness.

 

During the 2025/26 academic year, the Committee will meet on:
