Swansea University formed a partnership with Urdd Gobaith Cymru in 2011 to support and develop the GwyddonLe, which is the science tent at the Urdd. The Morgan Institute Challenge has been part of the GwyddonLe activities since 2018and is an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their reasoning and debating skills.

The popular public speaking competition for older school pupils, the Morgan Institute Challenge or Her Sefydliad Morgan will return again this year. The topic for debate is "The idea of habitat is unable to recognize the history of racism and diversity in Wales", judged by Dr Angharad Closs Stephens, Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Swansea University, and Cefin Campbell, Member of Senedd. The aim of the competition is to give pupils the opportunity to demonstrate their reasoning and debating skills and the two best speakers will win a cash prize of £500 to share between their schools.
Among the other attractions at the GwyddonLe will be the opportunity to code robots and simulate ecosystems with Technocamps, experience virtual reality, learn how to use a defibrillator and how to give CPR, make slime and much more. We are also looking forward to welcoming external contributors such as Mad Science and The Big Science Project and as well as this, there will be an opportunity to learn about the weather with some familiar faces from the BBC’s weather team.
On Wednesday, a special ‘Ti a Dy Gorff’ quiz will be held on the GwyddonLe stage by Eiry Miles from Rily Publications who was responsible for the Welsh adaptation of Adam Kay’s book, Kay’s Anatomy. Be sure to come along for the chance to win some prizes!
Visitors can also win prizes in daily competitions and find out more about the courses and opportunities that Swansea University can offer.
