How much does accommodation cost?

Accommodation fees depend on the type of room you have. We have a very wide variety of accommodation, and so the fees are varied too.

Fees are calculated using a number of factors including room size (larger rooms are, on average, an additional £5-£6 per week) whether you have shared or en-suite bathroom facilities, are self-catered or provide pre-paid dining options.

Your accommodation fees also include all utilities, internet and room insurance.

Payment Due Dates 2024/2025

A Reservation Deposit in advance of £100.00 is payable within 3 days of receipt of the offer of accommodation and acceptance of the Tenancy Agreement.

We ask that you pay the Reservation Deposit through your Accommodation Account to secure your room.
The Reservation Deposit will be deducted from the first payment of your Accommodation Fees.
The Reservation Deposit is non-refundable if you do not enter into the Tenancy or move in to the accommodation.

Payments are made in termly instalments, in line with student loan/maintenance payments.

Invoices will be sent to the student via their University email account 7 days before the due date.

Please note the payment due date includes accommodation rent and any additional charges incurred.

How to Pay

Method 1: Via your Intranet Account

Visit your University Intranet account
Press the Financial Transactions tab on the left
Tick the Accommodation checkbox
Enter the amount you wish to pay
Press the 'Make Payment Now' button
Follow the instructions to enter your Billing Address and complete the transaction using a credit or debit card

Accommodation fees will only be displayed 7 days prior to the due date. If you wish to pay upfront, you can manually type in the amount you wish to pay. This will then be credited to your account.

For Reservation Deposits only, payment can be made at the point of accepting the room offer via your Accommodation Account.

Method 2: Via Convera GlobalPay

Pay your Accommodation Fees using Swansea University's payments platform, powered by our partner Convera GlobalPay.

This allows you, your family or sponsors to pay in the currency of your choice in a simple and secure way.

Visit Convera
Choose the country you’re paying from.
Enter your payment amount within ‘Accommodation/Rent/Housing Costs’.

A reminder of your fees will be sent 10-14 days prior to the due dates.
If you wish to pay in full upfront, the total amount for the tenancy may be entered.

Press ‘Get a quote’ and choose your preferred payment method.
Enter student details and confirm who is making the payment.
Complete your payment transaction.
Track your payment status by email.

For Reservation Deposits only, payment can be made at the point of accepting the room offer via your Accommodation Account.

Problems Paying?

It’s important you pay your rent on time to avoid your account going into arrears. The payment dates and amounts can be found in your Tenancy Agreement. If you experience financial problems or any trouble paying your accommodation fees, or:

Have a query relating to your invoice
Have not received your Student Loan
Are experiencing genuine financial hardship
