Next Steps After Swansea
Straight after university, I completed my FA Level 1 Coaching badges for both outfield players and goalkeepers and began volunteering with a local grassroots team. During my coaching course, I was recruited to coach in the USA for a year with UK International Soccer, which gave me invaluable international experience and accelerated my development as a coach.
Current Role
U21 & Women’s 1st Team Cover Goalkeeper Coach and FA Coach Developer
I currently work with Southampton Football Club and The FA. My roles include coaching goalkeepers for the Girls’ U21s, covering the Women’s 1st Team, and supporting goalkeeper development across the boys’ academy from U9 to U16. This involves delivering training sessions, providing matchday support, and helping develop the next generation of goalkeepers. Alongside this, I work as an FA Coach Developer, delivering and tutoring on UEFA C courses for coaches aspiring to careers in football.
Impact of Swansea
Swansea University gave me my first real opportunities to coach. Through a part-time role in collaboration with Swansea Council, I delivered after-school sports sessions within the local community across an eight-week programme. This placement was a turning point for me and confirmed that coaching was the career path I wanted to pursue.
Highlights & Advice
A standout highlight of my career so far was being on the bench as part of the coaching staff for a WSL 2 fixture between Southampton Football Club and Crystal Palace.
My advice is to take every opportunity to coach, even at grassroots level — those early experiences are where confidence, clarity, and career direction are built.
