Elin Rhys is founder & chair of Telesgop Procution Company. A graduate in biochemistry, Elin began her career as a scientist with the Welsh Water Authority monitoring drinking water quality and checking for pollution. After 5 years she then began a 10 year career as a freelance in media initially concentrating on presenting and writing science programmes for S4C, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Schools before moving to general programming – presenting documentaries, live events and magazine shows for various channels including S4C, HTV Wales, BBC Wales and BBC 2.
Elin founded Telesgop on May the 4th 1993 and has led the company through thick and thin ever since, employing on average 30 permanent staff. In her role as MD she has overseen hundreds of hours of productions; documentaries on BBC Wales, BBC FOUR, S4C, Channel 4 and Discovery; magazine series for BBC Wales and S4C, live event coverage for the BBC and S4C’s flagship farming current affairs series Ffermio. Some were Bafta Cymru Award winners, all had quality at their heart. Following a management buy-out in 2019 she is now Company Chair with time to pursue her first love – radio. Telesgop has a successful radio arm producing 700 hours of radio per annum. Elin produces and presents, some series of her own, mostly science based. Above all, she is proud to have founded a truly independent company in Wales and to have enabled so many young, talented, people to enter the industry whilst remaining in their communities in West Wales.
