Lee is originally from Huyton, an area in Merseyside, Liverpool, with a rich history of football and Lee found his love for football playing on the streets where he grew up.

His career began in the English non-league system, where he played for Burscough, Chorley, Stalybridge Celtic, Southport and Bamber Bridge, before signing for Welsh Premier League side Rhyl in 2000.

It was in Swansea that Lee made a name for himself in professional football during a four-year spell for Swansea City, where he scored an impressive 78 goals in 146 appearances between 2003 and 2007, becoming a fan-favourite and cult hero in British football. A striker with an eye for goal, his ‘showboating’ and skills saw him regularly shown on television shows such as Soccer AM and made him one of the most spoken-about footballers outside of the Premier League.

Lee went on to sign for Bristol City where loan spells to Leeds United and back to his beloved Swans followed, before returning to Wales to sign for Neath in the top tier of Welsh football, scoring 26 goals in 59 matches. Trundle retired from football at the age of 36 but came out of retirement to sign for Welsh Division Two club Llanelli Town, winning back-to-back promotions with the club. He has since played in the Welsh leagues, featuring for the likes of Haverfordwest County, Trefelin BGC, Ammanford and Mumbles Rangers.

In July 2013, Lee’s career took another direction in a move which saw him return to the then Liberty Stadium where he was appointed Swansea City’s Club Ambassador, a role that he has embraced wholeheartedly ever since. His sincerity and enthusiasm, particularly in working with the community, has a positive effect on the projects being delivered across the city and beyond.

It is his role as ambassador that links Lee with the University and Swansea City AFC partnership including supporting the development of the Santander Bike initiative across the city. Swansea University graduates may have even found themselves speaking to Lee on results day as he took to the phones at Clearing to support the University’s recruitment campaign!
