Lizzie Daly is a truly inspirational figure: wildlife biologist, filmmaker, presenter and explorer.

Lizzie’s passion for conservation started early when at the age of six, she decided she wanted to study elephants one day.

This initial interest went on to shape her educational path and after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter, she continued her journey as a scientist studying a Research Masters at Bristol University. She is currently completing a part time PhD at Swansea University using tag technology to better understand movements of wild animals in changing landscapes.   Alongside this, she is an Academic Teaching and Outreach Fellow at Swansea University.

Lizzie’s experience as a wildlife biologist, filmmaker, presenter and explorer is phenomenal.  Endlessly intrepid, she has spent a significant amount of time in extreme environments. In particular she has been on numerous expeditions in the Arctic circle, sometimes completely alone. Experiences includes filming musk oxen, killer whales and documenting the impact of a changing polar environment. She is an avid rock climber, ultra runner and freediver.

In 2022, Lizzie completed a 140km solo run in the Finnish Arctic Circle, which saw temperatures of -35 degrees.

In 2019, during #WildOceanWeek, Lizzie circumnavigated the UK to document and share her encounters with extraordinary marine life. The film of her diving in Cornwall alongside a giant barrel jellyfish went viral.

An experienced host and compere, in 2023 Lizzie interviewed Steve Backshall live at the launch of his book Deep Blue and hosted the prestigious annual IFAW awards ceremony in London. In 2022, she hosted the Panda Awards at Wildscreen and, prior to this, interviewed over 40 people - including Al Gore and Lewis Pugh – as part of the COP26 ‘COPTV’ series. She has also given talks at Google, New Scientist, Norwich Science Festival, Blue Earth Summit, Royal Geographic Society, Northern Ireland Science Festival, Chester Zoo, and the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show, to name a few.

Lizzie is currently working alongside US-based experts and marine research institutions to examine the marine life of North America for a new series for Love Nature: Deep Dive North America.

As a wildlife expert with a love of marine life she has featured in numerous BBC films on BBC One (The One Show) and BBC Wales speaking about lampreys, sharks, conger eels and more.

Other film credits include Solved, Nature's Greatest Mysteries (Animal Planet), and for the BBC: Weatherman Walking, Curious Creatures and Winterwatch.   Live broadcasting credits include hosting National Geographic LIVE Meet the Expert; BBC Live Lessons; Winterwatch LIVE and Blue Planet LIVE Lessons.

In September 2024, Lizzie launched her first wildlife book for children, Life in the Wild

She is an ambassador for the Marine Conservation Society, the Jane Goodall Institute UK, the first ever female patron of ORCA and an ambassador for the Norwich Science Festival.

Lizzie’s list of accomplishments are tremendous.  Her sheer spirit of adventure combined with an endless drive to understand and protect our natural world make her an aspiration, and the face of conservation for a new generation.
