Our Vision
The NPB-Centre will utilise research capabilities and innovative business models to advance biopesticides, biofertilisers, waste capture technologies, and high-value compounds for economic growth and sustainable development in natural products.
Our overarching vision is to:
- Accelerate green biotechnology: new products, new businesses and new investment
- Inspire an optimistic future where industries improve well-being & the environment
- Create an international translational R&D centre of excellence for fungi and algae
NP BioHUB Activity
Since the BioHUB's inception we have:
- Engaged with 144 companies
- Initiated 14 projects, worth £805k
- Submitted 14 grants, totaling £13M
- Organised 9 stakeholder events - 550+ delegates from industry, academia, community
Market Demand
The Green Economy Centre's primary purpose is to develop biotech solutions derived from eukaryotic microbes, such as fungi and algae, that offer:
- Higher efficiency in biomass production
- Greater sustainability
- Access to underexploited and tractable biodiversity
- Applications across multiple sectors
