Project Summary
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Cannabis Research (ICCR), was established from a grant received from the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) in partnership with the Universitiy of the West Indies, Mona. The GCRF is a £1.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government in 2015 to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries. The fund supports research surrounding three challenge areas; Equitable Access to Sustainable Development, Sustainable Economies and Societies and Human Rights, Good Governance and Social Justice. The ICCR serves as a centre of research excellence, a hub for a range of institutions within the region and a nexus of academic disciplines pertinent to research into cannabis and related market shifts. These include political science, law and agriculture, gender studies, as well as criminology and public policy.
