Emilija - Hong Kong
Emilija spent a year at City University HK as part of her computer science degree
I’ve loved my time in Hong Kong! I could study modules not available at Swansea, both those within my field but also other fascinating courses such as 3D animation. Moving to Hong Kong was daunting but a great experience for growth and resilience. I've loved exploring the local area and culture, attending various local festivals and events and gaining a deeper perspective, as well as making lifelong friends on the other side of the world.

John - Belgium
John studied abroad at Ghent University as part of his History degree
I had such a great time during my year abroad in Ghent. I cannot recommend the experience enough. I had international dinners, travelled to different countries, made a bunch of new friends and studied in a completely new environment. Ghent is a vibrant city, filled with life…it was an experience like no other.

Cerys - Sri Lanka
Cerys completed a summer programme with Travelteer
In my first year of studying Nursing at Swansea, I signed up for the Marine and Wildlife Conservation programme - one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was involved in environmental and community-focused initiatives, volunteered at local turtle sanctuaries and took part in beach clean-ups, preserving coral reefs and protecting marine life from the impact of plastic pollution. The programme strengthened my confidence, independence, and ability to connect with people from different cultures.

Laura - South Korea
Laura completed a year abroad at Pusan National University as part of her biosciences degree
I experienced so many wonderful things during my time in Busan. I visited Seoul several times and took Korean culture, language, and K-POP classes alongside my regular studies. I’m so grateful the year abroad opened my life to amazing opportunities. Before moving to Korea, I was terrified, but I felt settled within days thanks to the warmth of the people. I’ve learned to navigate unfamiliar situations, adapt to new customs, and become a much more confident person.”

Laura - Spain
Laura spent a year at Universitat Pompeu Fabra as part of her Modern Languages degree
Having studied in Spain as part of my degree, I am more open to other cultures and would like to consider working in an international context in the future. I’ve made connections that may help me in my future career or plans and have had the opportunity to improve my skills and employability.
