It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important information

ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs July to June. 

COSTS: The cost of living in Newcastle will vary depending on the type of accommodation and meal plan you select. 

VISA: You will need a Student visa and will be required to provide financial evidence of at least AUS$31,710, based on the 2024-2025 academic year. (subject to change). The visa application fee is approx. AUS$2000. Your host university will provide you with more information about the application process and more information is available on the Australian Government website. You must allow enough time to complete the visa application and for your visa to be sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Australia without it. More information is available via our visa and study permit webpage.

ACCOMMODATION: Students wishing to apply for on campus accommodation are encouraged to apply for accommodation as soon as possible. On-campus accommodation is not guaranteed, places are limited and highly competitive.  

HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your student visa. Details of this insurance are provided to students on their acceptance.
