With its mild winters and cool summers, Belgium is home to many Swansea University students year after year. Belgium sits at the crossroads of Western Europe. Its immediate neighbours are France to the southwest, Luxembourg to the southeast, Germany to the east and the Netherlands to the north.

Swansea University is partnered with:

ACADEMIC YEAR: The academic year starts in September and will end in June.

VISAS: You may need to apply for a temporary Residence Permit in order to obtain a study visa (type D visa). Please refer to the Belgian Embassy website for further information.  You must allow enough time to complete the permit application and for your permit to be processed and sent to you. There can be delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Belgium without it.

HEALTH INSURANCE:  You will need health insurance for the duration of your studies, you will receive further information from your host on acceptance.  You cannot use Swansea University's travel cover as a substitute for this.
