France, officially the French Republic, will already be a very familiar destination to many Swansea students. With its world-renowned cuisine, varied landscapes and famous landmarks, you will have plenty to do in addition to your studies whilst in France. Travel by plane from the UK is relatively straightforward, with many low-cost airlines offering flights from most UK destinations. Once in France, you will be able to explore Europe more widely, particularly if you choose to use the high-speed TGV trains.
ACADEMIC YEAR: The academic year generally starts in September and ends in June.
VISAS: You may need to apply for a long-stay visa to study in France, please refer to the French Embassy website for further information. You must allow enough time to complete the application and for your permit to be processed and sent to you. There can be delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to France without it.
HEALTH INSURANCE: You will need health insurance for the duration of your studies, you will receive further information from your host on acceptance. You cannot use Swansea University's travel cover as a substitute for this.
