Sciences Po Aix building on campus

Sciences Po Aix, also referred to as Institut d'Études Politiques d'Aix-en-Provence, is a member of the Conférence des Grandes Écoles and belongs to the Réseau ScPo, which groups together seven of the ten Institutes of Political Studies: Sciences Po Aix, Lille, Lyon, Rennes, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Strasbourg and Toulouse. Swansea has a partnership in place with Sciences Po Aix, located in Aix-en-Provence, in the Provence region of southern France. 

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important information

ACADEMIC CALENDAR: Runs early September to end of May. 

COSTS: The cost of living in Aix-en-Provence will vary depending on your chosen accommodation and your lifestyle. Sciences Po Aix outlines an example budget on their website and provides guidance on the anticipated costs an exchange student can expect in France in their international guide.

VISA: You may need to apply for a long-stay visa (more than 90 days) to study in Science Po Aix and you will be required to provide proof of sufficient funds as part of the application. The fee for the visa application is 99 EUR. Science Po Aix will provide further information on the visa application process and you can also visit the French Government webpage. You must apply for the visa early to allow plenty of time for your application to be processed ahead of your arrival in France. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to France without it. You must apply via the CEF on-line procedure in order to obtain a student visa. 

ACCOMMODATION: Sciences Po Aix provides student accommodation via the CROUS. All student accommodations are located in Aix-en-Provence. Information on how to get a place in the student residences will be provided during the application process. HEALTH INSURANCE: You will need to purchase mandatory health insurance for the duration of your studies in Sciences Po Aix.
