The university is located on the banks of the Rhine in an hour west of Frankfurt. Winters are cool with snowfall quite frequent but not abundant and summers warm with thunderstorms possible. The University is one of the few campus based universities in Germany and the town has a lovely small town feel.

VISA: You may need a visa and/or residence permit for your stay in Germany, please refer to the German Embassy website to find out if you should apply before you travel. Your host university will provide you with the most up to date visa and immigration information.
ACCOMMODATION: Student accommodation is available and exchange students can apply for a room. Accommodation is not guaranteed so, it is important to apply by the deadline. 15th July for semester 1 and 15th January for semester 2.
HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to purchase mandatory health insurance for your time at Mainz. More information can be found here.
