Located in the heart of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has a well-earned reputation as an innovative hub for research and professional education and for addressing global issues and empowering positive change.

CityUHK is situated at the heart of Kowloon Tong. The Campus is accessible by various means of public transportation. Taking MTR is one of the convenient ways to reach the Campus, it is just a 5-minute walk from Kowloon Tong Station via Festival Walk Shopping Centre. CityUHK is also just 30-minute ride away from the Hong Kong International Airport (airport).

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Who can study here?

Swansea's partnership with CityUHK covers the following subjects: Psychology, Computer Science, Philosophy, Politics and IR, Media and History.
Spaces are not guaranteed, can be limited and all students on a semester/year abroad programme are subject to a university-wide, competitive selection process.

Important information

ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs September to April/May

COSTS: The cost of living in Hong Kong will vary depending on your chosen accommodation and your lifestyle. Further information can be found on their estimated costs page. 

VISA: You will need a Student Visa to study in Hong Kong. City UHK will act as your sponsor and process the student permit application on your behalf. A non-refundable and non-transferable administrative fee will be charged by City UHK for processing the student permit application. This administrative fee does not include the visa fee payable to the Immigration Department. View a sample checklist of the documents you will need in order to apply for a student visa.

ACCOMMODATION: New accommodation was released in September 2024. It is 20 minutes from campus by NTR and very convenient. Accommodation is not guaranteed so apply by the deadline! More information is available via https://www.cityu.edu.hk/geo/non-local-students/living-in-hong-kong/accommodation 

HEALTH INSURANCE: You will need to purchase mandatory health insurance for the duration of your studies at City UHK. More information can be found here
