Vigo is the largest city in Galicia, North West Spain and home to Universidad de Vigo. It is set in a beautiful, natural environment that is rich in culture. Being only 3 hours away from Porto, Portugal, and a stone’s throw away from Santiago de Compostela, Madrid and Bilbao by train it is ideally located for travelling around Spain and experiencing all of the cultures Spain has to offer. It is recommended that Biosciences students going on exchange have a language level B2 in Spanish, as the main language of instruction is Spanish.
It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important information
ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs from September to June.
COSTS: The cost of living in Vigo will vary depending on your chosen accommodation and lifestyle.
VISA: If you will be studying in Spain for more than 90 days, you will need to apply for a study visa and you be required to provide financial evidence as part of the application. Your host university will provide you with more information about the process. You must allow enough time to complete the application and for your visa to be sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Spain without it.
ACCOMMODATION: On-campus and off-campus accommodation is available. It is the responsibility of the student to secure their own accommodation.
