The university is located just outside Barcelona close to the Serra de Collserola Natural Park. You can expect to experience mild winters and hot summers. The university is known for its excellence in teaching quality and research and is ranked 145th in the THE world rankings. Students coming to UAB have the option to take part in some Catalan courses to help get them settled in to life in Catalonia.  

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important information

ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs from September to July. 

COSTS: The cost of living in Barcelona will vary depending on the type of accommodation you select and your lifestyle. 

VISA:  If you will be studying in Spain for more than 90 days, you will need to apply for a study visa and you be required to provide financial evidence as part of the application. Your host university will provide you with more information about the process. You must allow enough time to complete the application and for your visa to be sent to you. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Spain without it. UAB's International Support Services will help you with your registration and visa. 

ACCOMMODATION: UAB offers on-campus accommodation in the Vila Universitària. Vila Universitària also offers private accommodation options in shared appartments or host families.

HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to purchase mandatory health insurance for your time at UAB. UAB will provide you with more information.
