"For my year abroad I went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I was the only person in my year to go there and I was studying History while I was out there. The reason I chose Tennessee and Southern America was because I wanted to experience a culture completely unknown to me"

Biggest Highlights

"What I love about my time was the travelling. To visit over 12 cities in America across 10 states within a year was an extremely proud and fulfilling factor for me. To visit cities such as Miami, LA and New Orleans, was very cool and something that not only lived up to expectation but exceeded it."

A Change in Learning and Education

"The biggest challenge for me was the change in learning and education. Studying history, the emphasis within America was much more on the facts and events (as opposed to the analytical side which we study in the UK).  However, the teachers were very accommodating and knew I was not used to this sort of system, and they were more than willing to help me in whatever I needed."

"Overall, I never thought twice about whether I should be on the year abroad, it was such an enjoyable year but also helped me grow as a person.  I would 100% recommend a year abroad to anyone thinking about doing it."
