TASM 2022 at Swansea University
#TASMConf 2022 took place on 28-29 June, with 201 registered delegates from 15 countries across the world. The delegates included researchers from a range of academic disciplines and a large number of non-academic stakeholders, including representatives from the U.K. Home Office and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, London Metropolitan Police, HM Prisons and Probation Service, Meta, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, GIFCT, Tech Against Terrorism, OFCOM, the U.S Department of Homeland Security, Public Safety Canada, the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs, Police Ireland, the United Nations, and UNDP.
Over the two days participants were able to select from 24 different breakout panels, featuring a total of 98 speakers, covering a wide range of different topics. Copies of the abstracts are available below.
The keynote session featured presentations from Jonathan Hall KC (the UK’s Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation) and Professor Maura Conway (Paddy Moriarty Professor of Government and International Studies at Dublin City University; Professor of Cyber Threats at Swansea University). The conference concluded with the session “In conversation with the tech industry”, which featured Dina Hussein (Meta’s Head of Counterterrorism and Dangerous Organizations Policy for EMEA), Lucy Calladine (YouTube’s Product Public Policy lead in EMEA) and Lisa McInerney (Twitter’s Global Policy Area Lead for Violent Organizations).
