Participation Team Bursaries

Swansea University offers additional support for Care Leavers, Estranged Students and Student Carers, each has a bursary available for eligible students to receive as an additional aspect of support.

The first instalment of the bursaries will be made once an application has been approved.

The second instalment is scheduled for May.

Payment dates are non-negotiable.

Care Experienced

The Care Experienced Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. We offer a Care Experienced bursary in each year of study to undergraduate students. Bursary amounts to be confirmed for the academic year 25/26.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Care Leaver bursary.  Bursary amounts to be confirmed for the academic year 25/26.

Estranged Students

The Estranged Student Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on taught undergraduate degree programme. We offer an Estranged Student Bursary, which is split into 2 payments each academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment in each year of study of their undergraduate course. Bursary amounts to be confirmed for the academic year 25/26.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are not eligible to receive the bursary, but may be granted priority access to Money Advice team Hardship Funds.

Carers

We offer a bursary for Student Carers in each year of study to undergraduate students, which is split into two payments throughout the academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Student Carers bursary per course for full-time students and part-time students.

Bursary amounts to be confirmed for the academic year 25/26.
