The Care Leaver Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. We offer a Care Leaver bursary in each year of study to undergraduate students of £1500 which is split into two payments throughout each academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment of £750 in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Care Leaver bursary, totalling £1,000 for the duration of your course.

The Estranged Student Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on taught undergraduate degree programme. We offer an Estranged Student Bursary of £800 in each year of study to undergraduate students, which is split into 2 payments each academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment of £400 in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are not eligible to receive the bursary, but may be granted priority access to Money@CampusLife Hardship Funds.

We offer a bursary for Student Carers in each year of study to undergraduate students, which is split into two payments throughout the academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Student Carers bursary per course for full-time students and part-time students.

The Accommodation Payment offers up to £750.00 per academic year. There are a limited number of Accommodation Support Payments available for 24/25 and therefore awards will be made on a first come, first served basis.

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for the Accommodation Support Payment, you must meet the below criteria:

• You are a new/ continuing enrolled student for the current academic year
• You are living in Swansea University accommodation, and you do not pay for any other properties (please see list of qualifying accommodation below)
• You are on a full-time/ part-time course and receiving all funding available to you
• You are in financial hardship and willing to undertake a financial assessment of your circumstances and provide evidence in support

• The College (at Bay Campus)
• Singleton Campus
• Beck House
• Seren *
• True *

* For ‘Seren’ or ‘True’ accommodation your contract must be via the Accommodation team within the University. Please note, if you have a ‘direct-let’ tenancy with these accommodation providers, you will not be eligible for the Accommodation Support Payment.

We will require the below to be provided to support your application:

• Student Funding entitlement letter showing you are receiving full funding.
• Tenancy Agreement for your current accommodation from Swansea University’s Accommodation team *
• Bank statements for ALL bank/building society/savings/ISA accounts.
• Any other evidence required to make a financial assessment as requested by the Money@CampusLife assessment team.

To assist with travel costs, Money@CampusLife offer new and continuing students who have been assessed in financial hardship via our application process a travel support payment.

The travel support payment offers up to £400.00 per academic year to contribute towards one of the below:

• Annual/Termly bus ticket
• Petrol costs (eligibility criteria applies)

There are a limited number of Travel Support Payments available for 24/25 and therefore awards will be made on a first come, first served basis.

Eligibility

To be eligible you must meet the below criteria:

• You are a new/continuing enrolled Home student for the current academic year
• You have not been awarded costs for travel via a previous Hardship Fund application
• You are on a full-time/ part-time course and receiving all funding available to you
• You are in financial hardship and willing to undertake a financial assessment of your circumstances and provide evidence in support
• If applying for petrol costs, you must be enrolled in a course that requires you to have use of a car (e.g. Degrees that require you to travel to placement, such as Nursing). Discretion can be applied if student requires a car due to disability or a caring responsibility, as confirmed by the Participation@CampusLife team.

Evidence Required

• Student Funding entitlement letter showing you are receiving full funding.
• Bank statements for ALL bank/building society/savings/ISA accounts.
• Any other evidence required to make a financial assessment as requested by the Money@CampusLife assessment team.

Money@CampusLife are pleased announce that we will be offering a non-repayable award to eligible students. This fund is intended to assist with post graduate course related costs. 

Awards available of £300 for all post graduate home students. *Eligibility criteria applies

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Support Payment, you must:

• Be a current, enrolled Post Graduate Home student (Taught or Research)
• Have more than 5 weeks remaining of your course

You can make an application online here:  Opportunity Award. Please select the Student Support Fund option, add a new record  click the ‘PG Support’ option in the dropdown menu at the top of the application page.

Please note that you will only need to provide one months bank statements for all accounts held.

Applications can only be processed when all required evidence is uploaded onto the online form.

The Academic Enrichment Payment is a fantastic opportunity for students from sanctuary-seeking backgrounds to enhance both your academic journey and overall wellbeing. This award, offering up to £250, can be used to support a range of activities that enrich university life.

Students can use the funding for essential study resources, conference fees, professional memberships, and skills-based courses to boost their academic and career prospects. Additionally, the payment can support wellbeing activities, such as joining student societies, participating in sports, attending cultural events, or engaging in creative and arts-based activities—all of which contribute to a fulfilling and well-rounded university experience.

Awards available of up to £250. Please note we can only permit one payment per student per academic year.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Academic Enrichment Payment, you must:

• Be a current enrolled student
• Evidence your status as one of the following:
• asylum seeker
• refugee
• those with limited/discretionary leave to remain*
• those with humanitarian protection*
• *as a result of an asylum claim

Money@CampusLife are pleased announce that we are now offering a non-repayable award to provide financial support to students who are pregnant. 

The Maternity Support Payment is a one off payment of £600. Applications will need to be made 10 weeks before your due date and will require a MATB1 form as evidence to support your application. 

Please note that the Maternity Support Payment is only available to Home students.

Money@CampusLife are pleased announce that we will be offering a non-repayable award to eligible students. This is intended as a supplement to the childcare support provided by the students funding provider.

Awards available for up to £1000 for full time students and £500 for part time students.  Eligibility criteria applies:-

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Childcare Support Payment, you must:

• Be a current enrolled student
• Be in receipt of the Childcare Grant element from Student Loans Company / NHS Bursary 

Evidence Required

• Your award notification from Student Loans Company /NHS Bursary evidencing your Childcare Grant award amount
• Receipts of payment or invoices from your childcare provider dated within the last month

Applications will not be processed unless all evidence is uploaded onto the online form.

• Award amounts for eligible full time tudents:-
• 1 Child in childcare £600
• 2 Children in childcare £800
• 3 or more children in childcare £1000

• Award amounts for eligible part time students:-
• 1 Child in childcare £300
• 2 Children in childcare £400
• 3 or more children in childcare £500

• Students must be in receipt of their full PG loan from their Funding Provider. If only part of the loan has been opted for student’s will not be eligible
• The child/ children in childcare must be age 0-5

• Receipts of payment or invoices from your childcare provider dated within the last month

• 2 Children in childcare £950.00
• 3 or more children in childcare £1150.00
