Course Overview

Our exciting, redeveloped MSc responds directly to the urgent demand for a new type of professional – those who not only possess core engineering management skills, but also understand sustainability, want to make a difference and, more importantly, have the skills, creativity, and innovation to lead positive change.

Developed and delivered in partnership with the King’s Foundation, this course enables students to develop interdisciplinary insights into the role of business, management, engineering, and global communities in creating a sustainable future. With access to influential stakeholders and thought leaders in sustainable development and management, the MSc aims to develop a community of leaders who have:

  • The knowledge and capability to evaluate and develop potential solutions to complex global challenges such as climate change.
  • A deep understanding of how sustainable development and associated competencies can provide a framework for change.
  • A broad understanding of the role of engineering technology in addressing sustainability challenges.
  • The ability to use management processes and principles to drive forward positive change.

This course will equip you with the skills to manage and lead the way in addressing global challenges and making the continuous move towards a more sustainable future.

Did you know? 

Students will have the opportunity to get involved with Invent for the Planet, an Intensive Design Experience hosted by Texas A&M, which engages students at universities around the world and tasks them with solving some of the world’s most pressing problems in just 48 hours.

In 2023 students from Swansea won the IFTP's grand final with their reverse-osmosis pump which could convert toxic river water into potable water for rural farming communities.

Your Sustainable Engineering Management Experience

This course will involve interaction with influential stakeholders and thought leaders in sustainable development. Giving you the ability to grow your network and employment opportunities. 

The Faculty of Science and Engineering has an international community of over 1900 postgraduate students and 120 research staff. 

You will have access to our on-site library, open 24 hours a day, advanced laboratories, a year-round programme of guest lectures, and dedicated postgraduate work rooms.

Modules

This MSc contains modules on management, smart manufacturing, sustainable engineering technologies, circular economy, international development, community engagement, application of sustainable development, and a 60-credit individual dissertation, providing a truly interdisciplinary learning experience.
