Course Overview

The MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering course enables you to refine specialist skills alongside pioneering research interests within Engineering. Your learning will reflect the modern demands of the electronics industry.

This course offers you the opportunity to do an additional year for an Industry Placement or project, giving you valuable work experience and the opportunity to improve technical plus interpersonal skills.

The second Industry Placement Year course fees are £3600 for International students and £1800 for Home students. We are now able to offer academic performance based bursaries to cover this second year course fee. For more information on this please contact Dr Vasilios Samaras.

Your Electronic and Electrical Engineering Experience

Over the course you will develop skills with industry-standard equipment, such as a scanning tunnelling microscope for atomic scale probing, and the hp4124 parameter analyser for power devices.

You will have the chance to build an understanding of prototyping and production methods and components, while learning how to construct and evaluate advanced models of manufacturing techniques.

By the end of the course you will be able to confidently differentiate, analyse and discuss product lifetime management solutions, and how they impact specific industry sectors.

Your studies will be nourished by an international community of over 500 postgraduate students and 120 research staff within Engineering.

Further study support comes in the form of 24 hour access to our on-site library, advanced laboratories, a year-round programme of guest lectures, and dedicated postgraduate work rooms.

Modules

This MSc offers a selection of compulsory and optional 10-credit modules on subjects including power semiconductor devices, advanced power systems, optical fibre communications and nanoscale structures and devices.
