Course Overview

Our MA in Creative Writing is a uniquely inspirational programme that delivers integrated training in the writing of literary and media text.

Taught by experienced and award-winning writers, the programme provides teaching on a range of genres including fiction, short story, poetry, drama, screenwriting and creative non-fiction.

Throughout your studies you will have the chance to forge personal links with National Theatre Wales, the International Dylan Thomas Prize, The Cultural Institute, independent publishers and literary agents, as part of a vibrant Swansea community of artists.

If you are interested in studying abroad, our 2-year MA Creative Writing (Extended) course includes a period of study at our partner institution, the University of Central Oklahoma, USA.

Our range of modules, which include fiction, poetry, screenwriting, non-fiction, drama and publishing, along with hands-on workshops and guest lectures from the international world of art and publishing (via the Cultural Institute), all supported by our experienced, award-winning academic team that foster a friendly and supportive learning environment, will help you find your unique writer’s voice.

Creative Writing Employment Opportunities

Our MA in Creative Writing equips you with the skills, knowledge and experience to engage with the creative industries, and the confidence to pitch your creative projects and present your work across multiple creative platforms. Our graduates have gone on to work in a range of roles within publishing, broadcasting, marketing and advertising, and many are working as award-winning published authors.
