Severity classifications

Procedures are defined by the Home Office using five different classifications – Subthreshold, Mild, Moderate, Severe and Non-recovery. The majority of regulated procedures carried out on animals at Swansea University are classed as ‘mild’ or ‘moderate’ in severity.
