Professor Gavin Bunting, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Employability and Skills, says:
"The MSc with Industry is an agile programme providing a great amount of support for students to secure an external placement, but also the option to undertake an industrial research placement within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Swansea University.
The programme helps students to improve their technical and interpersonal skills, and add a significant work experience to their CV which plays a vital role for graduate opportunities. Along with the MSc Taught course, the MSc with Industry is a very comprehensive postgraduate programme aligned with the current needs of the multidisciplinary engineering environment."
Dr Vasilios Samaras, Course Leader, says:
"Embarking on an MSc with Industry not only enriches your academic experience but significantly enhances your employability skills. The practical knowledge and professional connections you gain during this period are invaluable in today's competitive job market. We are excited to offer an academic performance-based bursary to cover the second year's tuition fees, further supporting our students' journey to excellence."
"The placement is hosted by the Reducing Industrial Carbon Emissions research and innovation operation (of the Energy Safety Research Institute at Swansea University). If there is a something I have learnt in my studies is the importance of the environment and ...making sure it is never at harm from the industrialization that is seen in the world currently.
Working every day on this project, with the passion I see from my colleagues to this specific topic, is the thing that makes me enjoy the placement most. Beside this, the amount of support given by the team is enormous and makes me enjoy every day in the placement.
I have found that the best way for me to boost my CV was by joining the new program from Swansea University."
"My internal industrial placement is on the design and development of an autonomous remote controlled robotic car with artificial intelligence techniques.
I am really enjoying the sense of teamwork, effective communication and thorough research that is highly exhibited and encouraged whilst undertaking my placement. We are tasked on exciting and innovative projects and provided with the resources necessary for the implementation of the projects... [this] has afforded me a high sense of research capabilities and a professional way of articulating my ideas to solve real world problems.
Through the employability team, I learnt about a job advertisement in my area of studies, attended an employer talk organised by the employability team to learn more about the job role, applied for it and finally got accepted for the job whilst still undertaking my program of studies."
