CARI’s mission is to provide leadership to and drive world class research on defining the risks and finding solutions to the environmental and societal impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Our goal is to realise the power of interdisciplinary collaboration to champion responses to the climate and biodiversity emergencies, and their underlying social, cultural and economic drivers, for the wellbeing of all. Our specific focus areas are:
- Developing green technologies, nature-based solutions and clean energy to help achieve Net Zero targets,
- Developing methods and strategies for climate change adaptation, resilience, and the maintenance of healthy and biodiverse ecosystems,
- Embedding culture and politics in delivering the change to ensure environmental improvements include the wellbeing and health of people and communities.
