Alan Brace OBE

Alan has been both a Finance Director and a Chief Executive Officer in a number of Health Bodies in Wales.  In 2016 he was appointed as the Director of Finance of the Health and Services Group in Welsh Government the post he held before retirement in 2021 

This is the largest group in Welsh Government covering both the strategic planning and delivery of all health and social care in Wales and, in this role, Alan worked closely with the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care as well as Health Boards in Wales. Alan was the Executive lead for the development of VBHC in Wales and in this role developed international relationships and partnerships aimed at collaboration and shared learning. 

Alan has also benefited from extended study leave, both to Harvard Business School where he has studied both General Management and Leadership as well as Value Measurement in Health Care and also Stanford Business School in California studying Not for Profit Leadership. 

Since retiring from Government Alan has worked with many international healthcare systems on developing VBHC and also supported industry partners on their ambitions around VBHC. 

He received an OBE in the Queens New Years Honours 2022 for services to the NHS.
