Dr Helen Yu is an Associate Professor of the VBHC Academy. Helen holds a degree in neuroscience and practiced as an intellectual property lawyer and registered patent agent in Canada for 8 years before pursuing an academic career. Her research focuses on how existing legal and policy frameworks such as intellectual property law, Value-Based Procurement, and responsible research and innovation can be leveraged to support the sustainable development and implementation of new innovations, particularly in the biomedical and healthcare fields.
Helen adopts an interdisciplinary approach to studying how technology, open innovation, public private partnerships, and the law can inform the development of innovation to achieve alue-based outcomes in a manner that is responsive and reflective of the interests of all stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
