About

Dr. Larimi received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Her work is at the forefront of addressing two of the most pressing crises facing humanity: the growing need for energy and environmental concerns. Dr. Larimi's work synergizes the design, development, and physicochemical characterization of heterogeneous catalysts with the design and fabrication of high-efficiency reactor systems, as well as process modelling and simulation, to pioneer sustainable energy solutions.

She is the recipient of a number of awards and funding. She is the first scientist who obtains project support from the Iranian Ministry of energy to carry out CO2 photocatalytic reduction to produce value-added chemicals. She is also a two-time recipient of national project support from the National Science Foundation of Iran to carry out photocatalysis-related projects. Her research work in environmental-related processes was also supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) climate promise project. As an excellent scientist, she was awarded the research award of Iran National Elite foundation based on her contribution to the research of new energy catalysis. In recognition of her continuous and successful contributions to the field of energy, she was awarded the title of Top Researcher by the Ministry of Energy in 2022 and 2023. Her international collaborations span the UK, China, France, Australia, Spain, Germany, and India, enhancing her reputation in the catalysis field. She has a strong record of publishing in top-tier and world-class journals. Her research works have been published and highly cited in prestigious international journals.

Research interests

Dr. Larimi’s research lies within the domain of materials chemistry, focusing on the synthesis of porous materials. This includes metal oxides, metal-organic frameworks, carbon materials, and various compositions and structures thereof. She aim to manipulate their physicochemical properties to optimize their performance as heterogeneous catalysts, underpinned by structure-function relationships. The overarching goal of her research is to develop novel (nano)materials as heterogeneous catalysts through educated design approaches, which possess the capacity to tackle issues of public concern in the fields of energy and the environment.
