About
I work as a Senior Lecturer for Health Economics at the Swansea Centre for Health Economics (SCHE), a thriving research centre based within the School of Health and Social Care, Swansea University. I am also a Co-Applicant and Management Team member of Health and Care Economics Cymru, which was re-commissioned by Welsh Government as one of the Health and Care Research Wales infrastructure groups to provide health economic support to the development of world-class research for Wales.
I started my career in research with an MSc in Botany at the University of Vienna and trained as a microscopy and electron microscopy technician. Following a PhD in allergy research at Worcester University, I started employment at Swansea University as a health economist in 2009. Since then, I have been involved in over 30 randomised controlled trials, real-world evaluations and decision-analytic modelling studies as Principal Investigator or lead health economist and contributed to two National clinical guidelines.
I am the SCHE team leader for the health economic assessment of new medicines submitted to the All Wales Therapeutic and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) as part of the review undertaken by the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) with over 30 appraisals undertaken to date. I am also a voting member of the Interim Pathways Commissioning Group and the Health Technology Wales Assessment Group.
