About

Chris first developed a passion for anatomy and medical education whilst studying medicine at Nottingham University. As a postgraduate he worked as a medical doctor gravitating to surgical specialities but retained his passion for teaching by lecturing with Swansea University on an honorary basis.

In 2016 he consolidated his love for teaching by taking a post as an Educational Registrar in Otorhinolaryngology at Swansea Bay University health board. This was a role he refined for over 6 years, and one he continues to hold on an honorary basis today. During this time, he co-designed and built an international Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) teaching resource with original medical illustrations, clinical images, videos and other multimedia. The site has bespoke subsections spanning curricula for Swansea medical students, Primary ear care Physicians in Cambodian and medical students studying at The University of the Gambia. With hits in over 165 countries world-wide the site underpins his passion for integrating technology and creating a blended and immersive learning environment.

In 2017 Chris spent two weeks at The University of the Gambia where he and a colleague co-designed, delivered and assessed a contemporary ENT teaching course focusing on pathology seen in West Africa. The course was very well received by students and colleagues at the University alike.

In 2018 he was honoured to be awarded the Swansea University rising star award for his dedication to teaching. This inspired him to further pursue this passion by becoming the head of anatomy for the Physicians Associate (PA) MSc at Swansea University. A move that proved successful after being nominated and then winning an Excellence in Learning and teaching award in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Since 2021 Chris has been employed as a full-time lecturer in anatomy at Swansea University medical school but he continues to practice clinically in an honorary capacity. He also continues this involvement in clinical teaching, OSCEs, standard setting and emendation at the medical school.
