Claire started her career as a marine microbiologist gaining her PhD from the University of Wales, Swansea in 2000. She moved from aquatic animal health into Medicine in 2003 for the launch of the Swansea University Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) course. She took on the role of the Schools Disability Link Tutor in 2008 and, shortly afterwards, became the lead for Student Support & Guidance for GEM.
Thus, she has extensive experience of course design & management, teaching (microbiology and immunology) and supporting medical students. In addition to her GEM roles, she now also looks after the support for the Physician Associate course and teaches on Swansea University Masters Programmes on Leadership and Education for the Health Professions. She is also a SUMS co-chair for the Special Circumstances committee and is a representative on the University SAILS committee. Externally she peer reviews for several medical education journals, is an ESMELead course facilitator and is currently an external examiner of Plymouth University MSc Healthcare Management, Leadership and Innovation.
