About
I am a senior lecturer in zoology with a broad interest in how hosts and parasites interact. I am the coordinator for the Biosciences Second Year at Swansea University, and teach animal diversity, parasitology and critical literature reviewing modules to undergraduates. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and run a freshwater mussel surveying consultancy in my spare time. My research is mainly focussed on host behavioural and physiological changes following parasite infestation, using populations of semi-wild animals. I am experienced in a broad range of sampling methods, including marine and freshwater techniques, with an emphasis on parasitology and whole animal physiology. I am a member of several university and national committees, and currently chair the CCC Panel Gwyddorau Naturiol. I am a regular panellist on BBC Radio Cymru’s Galwad Cynnar programme.
