About

Gareth joined the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law in March 2020, having previously been a Lecturer at Staffordshire University. Gareth holds an LLB and PhD in Law from Aberystwyth University. His doctorate was awarded in 2019 in the area of constitutional theory applied to the devolution process in the United Kingdom.

Gareth’s main research interests lie in political history and constitutional theory. His current research focuses on the constitutional status of devolution in Wales.

LAA126 Legal System

A module intended to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of the legal system of England & Wales.
LAA295 The Law of Devolution in Wales

This module explores the constitutional theory of the law of devolution in Wales. In this module, we will look at the factors that led to the creation of the National Assembly for Wales in 1998. We will examine the constitutional structure of Welsh devolution at its inception and the subsequent changes that have taken place in the development of devolution in Wales. We will also examine the legal and political issues connected to the constitutional position of Wales in the UK territorial constitution, the modes of interaction between the UK and Welsh administrations, as well as proposals for the future development of devolution in Wales.
LAA362 Canadian Constitutional Law

This module will provide students with an introduction to the constitutional law of Canada, with particular focus on the distribution of legislative power, and the legal provision for rights and freedoms.
