About

Dr Rashedul Hasan is a Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Management, Swansea University. He holds a PhD in Accounting, is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), was granted Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE) by Chartered ABS and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Rashedul began his academic career in 2011 and has taught at various levels and for many different audiences. His primary expertise is management accounting at the under- and post-graduate level.He has also taught in the areas of financial reporting, audit and taxation in Higher Education Institutions in Bangladesh, Malaysia and United Kingdom. Before joining Swansea University, he served as a Senior Lecturer, Associate Course Director and Special Interest Group Chair (Corporate Governance) at Coventry University.  

Rashedul conducts research on sustainability reporting, corporate governance and Islamic finance. His work has been published by internationally recognised journals, including Business Strategy and the Environment, Finance Research Letters and Global Policy. Rashedul is also serving as the associate editor for several reputed journals and performs ad-hoc reviews for top-ranked journals in the field of accounting and finance including British Accounting Review and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money. He has secured research grant awarded by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE). Rashedul has published books on the issues of sustainability reporting, digital finance and Islamic finance with reputed publishers including Cambridge University Press, Taylor & Francis and De Gruyter.

Rashedul has worked closely with professional, academic and regulatory bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Ministry of Education Malaysian (MOE). He has worked with Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) to propose an updated corporate tax structure to the regulators in Bangladesh.  

Rashedul is a working group member of Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and has actively participated in developing the standards for Islamic crowdfunding and Cryptocurrency. He is an approved mentor under the AICPA & CIMA Mentoring Programme.
