About

Evi Tzika is a lecturer in Economics at Swansea University. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Macedonia in Greece and has previously held research positions at the Economics Research Centre of the University of Cyprus and at CEDEFOP – the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training.

Her research interests include, but are not limited to, applied macroeconomics, economic uncertainty, and time series econometrics. Her research work has been published in several reputable academic journals, including The Manchester School and Empirical Economics.

At Swansea University, Evi currently teaches International Macroeconomics (Level 7) and Applied International Macroeconomics (Level 6). Her previous teaching experience includes courses in Econometrics and Advanced Macroeconomics.

She is actively involved in the academic community, having co-organised international conferences and participated in research projects, including one funded by the Hellenic Observatory at the London School of Economics. She has also constructed the Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) index for Greece.

Taught Modules

EC-3506 Applied International Macroeconomics

This module is designed to extend the students¿ knowledge of Macroeconomics and Finance on a global scale. The module starts by introducing the foreign exchange market, connects it to the money market, and examines the interactions among interest rates, money supply, exchange rates, and income. In the second half of the course, students will focus on specific topics relating to the international open macroeconomy and finance. More specifically, topics such as global economic uncertainty, optimum currency areas (the Euro Area case), and growth in developing countries will be discussed.
EC-M581 International Macroeconomics

This module aims to exposes students to different topics of modern international economics. It combines theory and practice through and analysis of case studies and research. The module is designed to extend the students¿ knowledge of Macroeconomics and Finance on a global scale. Topics that will be covered revolve around foreign exchange markets, the money market, economic uncertainty, crises and opportunities, growth and convergence.
