Professor Berry Billingsley is the Principal Investigator of the Epistemic Insight and Future of Knowledge Initiative. The Initiative develops new tools and resources that bridge disciplines and bring people together. It also innovates new ways to think and learn about Generative AI. After a first career with the BBC working with Tomorrows World, Blue Peter and World Service, Berry transitioned to education, creating award-winning resources to engage young people in science and technology. Berry enjoys asking Big Questions such as "What does it mean to be human in the age of Generative AI?" and inviting students of all ages to explore different ways to answer.

EDN206 Digital Education: Pedagogy and Practice

This module will enable you to develop your understanding of learning, teaching and assessment with digital technologies. It will outline different perspectives and debates concerning digital technologies and pedagogy. There is an emphasis on critical analysis, evidence-informed approaches and design principles. The module will outline fundamental issues including inclusivity, accessibility, legislation, policies and standards. You will not be required to develop legal expertise but an awareness of how they influence educational practice. You will be able to develop your understanding of how to source, evaluate and implement open educational resources (OERs) for teaching and learning. There will be opportunities to develop technical, creative and project management skills.
EDPM06 Digital Education and Practice

This module will enable you to develop both a practical and a theoretical understanding of the role and place of digital technologies in education. You will be encouraged to engage with key debates and issues surrounding digital competencies with particular reference to the introduction of the Digital Competence Framework in Wales. The module will explore how professional practice is informed, and transformed, by the effective use of digital technologies through the study of their impact on pedagogy, assessment and progression. Students will evaluate the strengths and limitations of existing and emerging digital methods and approaches adopted in the UK and international settings and will explore the skills required for successful digital practice, and what this means for future professional learning needs.
FY-012 Introduction to Being Human

This module will focus on introducing what it is to be human from a broad humanities and social science perspective. It will offer the opportunity to engage with key ideas, theory and literature within these disciplines. It will therefore prepare students for further academic work in the humanities and social sciences and initiate the development of critical thinking and creative abilities.
