Dr Iyad Almamlouk joined Swansea University in 2024 as a Lecturer in Accounting within the Accounting & Finance Department at the School of Management. With over 15 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, audit, governance, and compliance, his career spans a wide range of industries, including oil, gas, telecommunications, banking, and microfinance.
He holds an MSc in International Banking and Finance (with Distinction), where he graduated top of his class and was awarded Best Performing Student. He also holds a PhD in Finance from Swansea University. His doctoral research focused on the impact of media on corporate cash holdings, corporate monitoring, information asymmetry, earnings management, and governance. In recognition of his commitment to teaching and learning in higher education, he has been awarded Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and is continuing toward full Fellowship.
Dr Almamlouk delivers high-quality teaching on undergraduate modules, including MN-2067 Principles of Management Accounting (Lecturer) and MN-2557 Management Accounting 1B (Seminar Delivery). His teaching approach emphasises active learning strategies and real-world application, while promoting equality, inclusivity, and strong student engagement. His efforts have been consistently acknowledged through positive student feedback.
His research interests include corporate governance, earnings management, corporate cash holdings, media influence on corporate behaviour, information asymmetry and corporate monitoring, and agency conflicts. Dr Almamlouk is also interested in exploring governance, accountability, and reform in the public sector.
He is available to supervise MSc and PhD students in areas related to corporate governance, cash holdings, earnings management, media and finance, agency conflicts, and public sector reform.
