About
Dr Jordan Anderson is a Lecturer in Criminology in the Department of Criminology, Sociology, and Social Policy. She joined the Department in June 2024 from New Zealand, where she has worked across the community, academic, and public sectors.
Jordan’s research explores risk, and how communities, the media, and public policy respond to those labelled as ‘risky’. Her recent research examined the release of high-risk sex offenders into communities in New Zealand as a microcosm of the modus operandi of the modern state, using these release events as a context through which to examine the operation of the risk society. More generally, Jordan’s research interests include indeterminate sentencing, post-prison regulatory measures, comparative criminology, and punishment.
Prior to joining Swansea University, Jordan was awarded her PhD in Criminology by Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand), where she now serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Institute of Criminology.
