About

Jessica was awarded her BSc in Biomedical Science at Bangor University in 2010, further to which she completed her PhD in the field of Cancer Research in 2017. Her research focused on the molecular mechanisms of the eukaryotic cell cycle using the model organism S.pombe to investigate the roles of novel variants of the S-phase effector kinase Cds1Chk2.

Whilst completing her PhD, Jessica also lectured on the Biomedical Science and Medical Science BSc programmes at Bangor University, and successfully achieved her Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy in 2014. In 2016, Jessica moved to Swansea University Medical School and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Applied Medical Sciences. In her teaching and learning practices she has a particular interest in the role of digital media in education, and science communication.

Jessica is also a Deputy Director of Swansea University’s Oriel Science.
