Dr Jafar Ojra is a Senior Lecturer of Accounting at the School of Management, Swansea University. Dr Ojra has over ten years of lecturing experience and currently lectures, designs and develops modules and programmes for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate modules. In addition, he supervises MSc and PhD students in areas within his expertise, such as management accounting and sustainability.
He holds a senior position as Programme Director for MSc Accounting and Finance conversion programmes. Dr Ojra is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). In 2018 and 2023, he was awarded the Excellence in Learning and Teaching award from Swansea University.
Jafar obtained his PhD in 2014 from Norwich Business School, the University of East Anglia, specialising in Management Accounting practices. Jafar has presented his research at top conferences. He has a multi-disciplinary approach to research as his current research activity spans a range of topics, including Strategic Management Accounting (SMA), Accounting for Sustainability, Performance Measurement, Corporate Governance, Auditing and Entrepreneurship and SMEs.
Dr Ojra is qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA). Prior to joining Swansea University in 2014, Jafar has worked extensively across various industrial sectors both in the United Kingdom and overseas.
Jafar is originally from Bethlehem, Palestine and has made his home in Swansea since 2014. Jafar is a marathon runner who enjoys the camaraderie, interaction and competition with other runners and has raised thousands of pounds for various causes.
