Mengnan Wang joined Swansea University in 2024 as a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering. She holds a PhD from Imperial College London and both a BEng and MSc from the National University of Singapore.

Wang’s research focuses on developing sustainable materials for various electrochemical systems, including fuel cells, electrolysers, and sodium-ion batteries. Her work explores how multiscale structural effects—from molecular design to macroscopic architecture—impact material performance in energy conversion and storage. By combining advanced synthesis methods with detailed characterization, her research aims to advance innovative and scalable solutions for sustainable energy technologies. With vast experience in technology transfer, Mengnan has worked with renowned organizations such as Innovate UK and Enterprise Singapore. This industry-driven background enhances her ability to translate academic research into real-world applications, fostering innovation in clean energy solutions.

At Swansea, Dr. Wang contributes to the Joint Education Institute with Nanjing Technical University, strengthening international academic partnerships and advancing interdisciplinary approaches to address critical global energy challenges.
