About

Dr Muhammad Junaid is a Research Officer at Geography Department working with Dr Iain Robertson, Dr Stuart Cairns and Dr Peter Holliman (Material Science and Engineering) on Leverhulme Grant. His research is centered on analysis and removal of micro(nano)plastics from aquatic resources using pristine and modified biochar. 

Previously, Dr Junaid completed his Master of Philosophy in Environmental Biology and Eco-toxicology (2012-2014) at Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan and PhD in Environmental Sciences (2015-2018) at the University of Chinese Academy of Science, China. Following his PhD, Dr Junaid completed his first postdoc at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, China (2018-2020), then a second postdoc at South China Agricultural University, China (2020-2024), and a visiting postoc at Luxemburg Institute of Health (04-2019 to 09-2019).

Dr Junaid joined Swansea University in November 2024 and is based at both the Bay and the Singleton Campus.
