About

Sue has a professional background in management accounting and over 40 years of teaching experience in Further Education, Higher Education and the private sector, via her training company, delivering ACCA professional paper programmes. Sue is a graduate of the Polytechnic of Wales, Cardiff University and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Sue has extensive programme management experience, having previously been the Programme Director for the BSc Accounting and Finance programme and currently Programme Director for the School of Management’s Foundation degree programmes. Prior to taking up this role, Sue was the Deputy Director of Learning and Teaching for the School.

Teaching Interests

Teaching interests include mainly management accounting at undergraduate level. Management accounting includes costing methods and application of decision-making techniques in a range of scenarios. In addition, Sue has taught financial accounting and financial management.

MN-1021 Accounting for Economics

To introduce students to the fundamentals of financial and management accounting. Accounting is of critical importance in support of all business activities so this course is designed to introduce the basic concepts on which accounting is based, providing students with a toolkit that enables a better understanding of the performance of businesses and the decisions and problems they face.
MN-2557 Management Accounting 1B

This module focuses on students¿ learning how to select and apply decision-making techniques in a range of scenarios. Students will also further develop variance analysis and interpretation.
MN-3010 Management Accounting 2

The focus of this module is on further developing management accounting decision-making skills across a variety of scenarios with particular focus on uncertainty and how the modern business environment is shaping the tools and techniques used for evaluating competitive advantage, planning and control.
