Dr. Runze Ding is a Lecturer in Media and Communication at Swansea University. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Leeds and is passionate about bringing marginalised perspectives into focus through his research. Runze’s work spans LGBT studies, digital cultures, alternative media, and (sub-) cultural studies, with a strong interest in the Chinese experience. His research has been featured in journals like European Journal of Cultural Studies, Social Media + Society, and International Journal of Communication. He was also recognized with the Top Faculty Paper award by the LGBTQ Studies Interest Group at the ICA’s 73rd Annual Conference.
Before joining Swansea, Runze taught as an Assistant Professor in Media and Communication at Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, where he led modules on (new) media, identity, and society.
