About
Sam joined the School of Health & Social Care as Mental Health Nursing Lecturer in June 2023.
Sam is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and has previously worked across a variety of Acute Mental Health settings, specialising in Unscheduled Care.
Having been involved with the Council Of Deans of Health #150Leaders programme during his own Nurse Training, Sam has worked closely with Associate Professor of Nursing, Beryl Mansel in establishing the Swansea Student Leadership Academy and is now Deputy Director. The Academy is an interprofessional leadership programme that is designed to encourage and support students to develop and apply leadership qualities to their own personal, professional, and organisational context.
Sam’s areas of interest include tackling inequalities within health and social care and addressing the social determinants of health, particularly in regard to homelessness. Sam has volunteered with the Swansea Night Shelter and, post-pandemic, continues to volunteer with Housing Justice.
