Victoria is an Associate Professor in the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law where she has worked since 1999. Her research interests lie in environmental law, specifically legal approaches to sustainable land management and natural resource management, including the significance of ideas of landscape. She is particularly interested in these issues from a local and Welsh perspective.

Career Highlights

Research

Victoria has been researching and publishing in the field of environmental law for over 20 years. Her recent work focuses on sustainable land management, landscape and environmental governance in Wales.

She recently won a Fellowship with the UKRI Landscape Decision Making Programme, which focuses on understanding the benefits of peatlands to local communities and the role of local authorities in developing them. She is collaborating with Dr Jonathan Walker’s Fellowship under the same scheme on ‘Welsh Peatlands Evidence’ and Neath Port Talbot Borough Council (NPTBC). This Fellowship builds on research carried out as part of a UK Community Renewal Fund (UKCRF) project on Green Infrastructure in the Neath Port Talbot area that both Dr Walker and Dr Jenkins are involved in.

Victoria has worked with Welsh Government in various capacities and has presented evidence to the Senedd many times. In 2018, she took part in the Senedd's Fellowship Scheme resulting in the publication of a report on the sustainable management of natural resources in Wales and UK Common Frameworks after Brexit. Her research on environmental law and landscape is discussed in her lecture at Edinburgh University as part of the Brodies’ Environmental Law Lecture series.
