Supported learning for teachers

As a member of staff at Swansea University you will benefit from a consistently high-quality learning experience, which includes the use of dedicated technology to help you fulfil potential.

An appropriate balance between pedagogy, space, and technology enables effective teaching to take place. The technology enhanced learning development team considers learners to be central to the educational process, where every learning environment and approach to student support and guidance begins with a learner-centred pedagogy. When used carefully and appropriately, technology can effectively enhance teaching learning and assessment.

Provision of high quality teaching programme for new staff

The Swansea University Postgraduate Certificate Teaching in Higher Education is for Swansea University staff who wish to explore and develop their teaching. In addition, it is a probationary requirement for those with less than 3 years full time teaching in higher education in the UK.

The programme is fully accredited by Advance HE (Formally the HEA) and has the flexibility of specialist components via the Patchwork assessment.

Participants learn through a range of learning and teaching methods whilst assessments focus on personal development and are mainly reflective, with face-to-face sessions encouraging collaboration and collegiality. These collaborative events, where colleagues from all subjects share ideas and experiences, are particularly beneficial.
